This is one of the threaded fasteners that clamp a part, fix its position or limit its travel. The machine named for it in the Pegasus list is the DC-1.

In service the same screws are loosened and tightened again and again. Each time the thread or the head can pick up a burr, so a screw that has been through many adjustments is better replaced before it damages the hole.

Details

Pegasus part number: 001186000009

Part name: Screw

Short form of the number: 0011860

Type: Screws, Nuts & Washers

Listed by Pegasus for: DC-1

When to replace it

Rattling or a shifting part at a joint the screw should hold firm

Binding or a gritty feel when turned, even in a clean hole

The thread is damaged or the screw no longer holds its setting

Start the screw by hand: if it binds in the first turns, stop and check the thread and the hole before tightening.

Choosing the right part

Diameter alone is not enough.
