This part appears in the Kansai Special parts books for FX.

The force of a spring depends on its wire or strip, its length and its shape. A spring that is weaker or stronger than the right one changes the pressure or tension wherever it acts, and adjusting cannot fully make up for it.

Details

Kansai Special part number: 05-4470-0

Part name: Leaf Spring

Short form of the number: 05-447

Type: Springs

Kansai Special parts books that list this part: FX

From these parts books, our site has pages for these Kansai Special machines: Kansai Special FX-4404P-UTC, Kansai Special FX-4412P, Kansai Special FX-4412P-UTC, Kansai Special FX-4418P and Kansai Special FX-4425PW.

Choosing the right part

On a flat or leaf spring, the curve and the bend positions count as much as the length, so check the shape against the old spring.

When to replace it

The relaxed spring is shorter or flatter than a new one

Bright wear marks or grooves where the spring rubs another part

Rust or pitting on the wire or strip of the spring

Install it in the same position and hook it the same way as the old spring, and check the adjustment that depends on it afterwards.

More Kansai Special parts for the same machines

Kansai Special 87-1000-0 Bolt

Kansai Special 05-3930-0 Plate

Kansai Special 19-4160-0 Needle Guard

Kansai Special 05-4200-0 Seal

Questions

Can I stretch or shorten a spring to adjust it?
No. A modified spring will not give the force the mechanism was designed for.
