The DNU-1541 is a walking-foot (unison feed) machine for heavy materials. Here is what usually wears on it, how often our service mechanic replaces each part, and the JUKI number for the DNU-1541, the DNU-1541S and the DNU-1541-7.
A word about the figures
Please read the figures as rough. Our service mechanic gave us these intervals from experience with machines in everyday industrial use. JUKI does not publish them. A walking-foot head that sews heavy material for long shifts will wear parts faster than the table suggests, and one that sews lightly will be slower to wear. The table is for planning stock; whether to fit a part is decided by the condition of the part.
The DNU-1541 wear parts in one table
The shortest intervals come first. Every number is a link to the part on our site; a dash means that the part is not listed for that version.

Where the three versions differ
Most numbers are shared by the DNU-1541, the DNU-1541S and the DNU-1541-7. Two parts split by version: the feed dog (40019908 on the DNU-1541 and the -7, 40019910 on the S) and the bobbin case assembly (B1837241H00 on the DNU-1541 and the -7, B1837241S00 on the S). The thread trimmer parts, the moving knife (D2423241E00), the counter knife (D2424241E00) and the thread guide for knife (D2429241E00), are listed only for the DNU-1541-7.
The DNU-1541 uses a different bobbin (B9117201000) from the DDL-8700 and DDL-8000A machines (22932909), so do not mix them up in the stock room.
What to check at each service
- Bobbins: dents and bent flanges; replace every 2-3 months or when damaged.
- Bobbin case: if the bottom thread tension drifts, look at the case first; about every 6 months.
- Feed dog and throat plate: on a machine that feeds thick material, look for worn teeth and grooves from needle strikes; about once a year.
- Trimmer parts (-7 only): counter knife and thread guide about every 3 months, moving knife about every 6 months.
- Springs and the thread guide on the needle bar: about once a year, or earlier if the thread tension will not hold.
Stocking up
For a shop that cannot afford a stopped machine, the sensible start is two or three bobbins, a bobbin case and, if you have the -7 version, a counter knife, a moving knife and a thread guide for knife. On our part pages the short-interval parts are marked 🔥 Keep in stock and the yearly ones Good to have. All DNU-1541 parts on our site are collected under JUKI DNU-1541 Spare Parts; for the routine around them, see Sewing Machine Preventive Maintenance: The 30-Day Rule.
Questions
Do the DNU-1541 and the DDL-8700 use the same bobbin?
No. In our mechanic's list the DNU-1541 uses bobbin B9117201000, while the DDL-8700 and DDL-8000A use 22932909. Check the number before you order.
Why is there a separate bobbin case and feed dog for the DNU-1541S?
Because the S version uses its own parts for these two positions: B1837241S00 instead of B1837241H00, and 40019910 instead of 40019908.
Are these intervals the same for every shop?
No. They are a rough guide for regular industrial use. Heavy thread, thick material and long shifts shorten them; careful cleaning and oiling lengthen them.
